The Tools That Promote Your Books: Perspectives from a Publicist
Monday, June 22
5:30-7:00 p.m. PDT
$10 to attend
It can be quite difficult to promote your book in an age when it is a significant challenge to break through the noise and cacophony of others promoting their books, as well as everything else in the publishing and digital world. The public is oversold, even when it comes to books. But there is a way to stand out and answer the question, “How do I promote my book?” By beginning to promote your brand first and yourself as the author and subject expert, you can gain an edge.
In this Zoom presentation, Publicist Sarah Sherwood will talk about goals, strategies, and tactics, where you will gain the following:
The ability to build a strong author platform, creating a brand in a way that helps sell to your specific audience.
And understanding of how to focus on the promotion of your book in a way that gives your voice credibility—in other words, what promotion works best in 2026.
A look at how to break through the noise of social media to actually sell your book.
In order to promote your book, you must have:
A communications plan that provides discipline for the promotion process.
An integrated strategy of traditional marketing, social media, and publicity.
Tactics to create a community of people who support you and love your work, as well as opportunities to build a larger audience.
Sarah Sherwood, Founder and Principal of Sherwood Communications Public Relations, has achieved this for her clients by publishing them in publications such as USA Today Magazine, Psychology Today, the New York Times, and has introduced them to the right people to build a book’s following.
Along with successful tenures at Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Edelman Worldwide, and Ruder Finn, Sarah has been promoting organizations in the political, well-being, science, and medical industries, and working with top public officials, scientists, and innovators for almost 30 years. Her success and creativity in the field has won the confidence of colleagues in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and the San Francisco Bay Area.
