Author and co-founder of Paper Angel Press, Steven Radecki, will present about an underutilized but attractive publishing avenue, “Small Publishing.” Steven will discuss the ins and outs of getting published via this path that lives between large publishing houses and self-publishing. Read more and pre-register for $15 to attend meetings or pay at the door. In-person only, Sequoia Yacht Club.
At our last meeting, Member Sue Barizon, whose name was picked out of the bowl, read a tender account of her father’s warm care after she got her tonsils removed as a child. Next month’s reader: new member Tice Swackhammer!

President Geri Spieler awarded a plaque of appreciation to Cynthia McCarthy of Palo Alto Rinconada Library for her support in bringing Writers Helping Writers to the community. Cynthia started it all when she was at the San Mateo Library before leaving to work at Rinconada, where she introduced it again. Member Tuula Laine carries the support forward in San Mateo.
James Hanna’s stories, “Orville Baumgardner and Carrion Crows” and “Orville Baumgardner and the Circle of Limbo,” appear in Cream Scene Carnival along with artist illustrations. “Carrion Crows” satirizes the far right’s hijacking of the U.S. Supreme Court while “Circle of Limbo” links Dante’s Inferno with America’s gun culture.
Marianne Brems' most recent poetry collection, In Its Own Time, is on sale at a pre-order price until June 16. The publication date is August 11!
Brad Hoge’s newest chapbook A Human Lifetime is coming out this summer from Finishing Line Press. It is currently available at the pre-order price. Go to this link to order online. Order his latest full-length book, The Drake Equation, published by Vraeyda Media, available now as an ebook.
