1) Geri made a motion to approve the October meeting minutes. Approved.
2) The Board discussed the upcoming holiday party and launch of Fault Zone: Faultless? on December 7.
3) Margaret and Tim provided an update on our membership (currently 158 CWC-SF-PB members). They also discussed the MRMS update coming in 2026. Approvals for applications for membership in CWC branches will occur at the state level. Margaret agreed to take the lead in contacting Roger Lubeck about how the process for welcoming new members will work.
4) David presented the treasurer’s report in Vibha’s absence. He and Vibha are working on a budget for the coming year. The current projection is for a $606 surplus. Including the CD, there is $9,600 in the club’s bank account.
5) Vanessa announced that Fault Zone: Faultless? is in the proofing stage. Pre-orders are open for members and friends who want to pick them up at the holiday party. The anthology appears on the publisher’s website. Vanessa and the board discussed logistics of Fault Zone readings at the holiday party in December.
6) Eva reviewed the club’s pilot Zoom presentation in October. The board discussed the possible frequency of the Zoom presentations. Eva is looking for speakers for February and March. The board will continue to experiment with this new program.
7) Geri proposed that our club host a bookfair. The board began a discussion and then agreed to revisit the topic in January 2026.
8) Geri talked about the NorCal leadership conference “Write the Future: Shaping the Leaders for the Years Ahead,” which will take place at Zio Fraedo’s restaurant in Pleasant Hill on April 26, 2026. Tim Flood, the keynote speaker, will speak about building a CWC club and rebuilding a club website. Breakout workshops will include topics on building websites (Megan), writing and publishing newsletters (Tice), marketing your branch (presenter to be determined), and how to have fabulous meetings (Scott Kornfeld). Members will enjoy an Italian buffet and have the opportunity to talk with other members about various club jobs. Only four to five members per branch may attend the conference.
9) David announced that there will be a video shoot for the club’s 60th anniversary from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Rinconada Library in Palo Alto on November 20. He reported that the member survey is going well.
